Support for SermonSpeaker 5.x is in bugfix mode only, the same as it is for Joomla 3.10.
I will not add any new features to this releases.
Please upgrade to SermonSpeaker 6.x and Joomla 4.x, which is better anyway.

Non latin characters in MP3 (e.g. in Title of mp3)

Hi Thomas,
I have founded problem with Non latin letters in title, or author or in other TAGs in mp3 after upload to seronspeaker.

My MP3 are ID3v2.4 encoded - it is UTF-8 encoding, and Jooomal is UTF-8. If I upload MP3 file (with new sermon, or "create sermons automatically") it will not use correct title or author from mp3. iTunes, mp3tag and windows display correct names but they are changed during "lookup ID3 tags".
Example of name change:
title (letters randomly added to test UTF-8 encoding with sermonspeaker - other than latin letters):
original: ľščť žýáí é=ô§ä
after lookup ID3 tag: ¾šè žýáí é=ô§ä

How to use correct name (with non latin letters) of title, author and other info from mp3 during lookup ID3 tags or "create sermons automatically"?
Thank you,
Radovan

Does this only happen for the title? Because I found a way to fetch it correctly from it but need to know where else this may happen.

Hi Thomas, the problem with incorrect letters are in: title, note (article content), artist (speaker), album (series)
This problem is same with "automatic creation" and "manual upload for new sermon".

I have edited ID3 tags in one free mp3 downloaded from the web, original testing letters are: "ľščťžýáíéúäňô" after "automatic creation" they are "¾šèžýáíéúäòô" for those 4 areas (title, speaker,...)
In attachment to this post is not possible to add mp3 file so you can downloaded it from my server: sermonspeaker.r-art.sk/song3.mp3 (I have grabed first available song...) ID3 tags are important - it will be there for few days.

There is also problem with "date" - in mp3 I have changed "year" to 2013 and "date" to 1402 but in sermonspeker (after "automatic creation" is there current date (2017-01-15 15:50:27) - you can download that mp3 and test it

Thanks,
Radovan

Hi, non-latin characters are correct now, excellent job!

Only "date" (when sermon was held) is not imported correctly. In that example file (song3.mp3) is date 14-02-2013 but after automatic creation is in Sermonspeaker, for "date" current date (2017-01-16), so for date of sermon it should be 2013-02-14 (+ some time).
Can you pls. check it?

Thanks a lot.

For the date to be read correctly, the file needs to contain the tags for year and date. That is TYER and TDAT. In the case of song3.mp3 only the year is correctly set. The date is stored into a general text tag (TXXX) and thus isn't recognized.
So this is an issue with the id3 tag creator software you use, not with SermonSpeaker.
If you enable "Write ID3 after save" in the SermonSpeaker options, it will correctly set those tags and you can test it with SermonSpeaker again.
