Support for SermonSpeaker 4.x is canceled as it is for Joomla 2.5. I will gladly assist you with minor issues but I will not fix any bugs anymore in this releases.
The fix is to upgrade to SermonSpeaker 5.x and Joomla 3.x, which is better anyway.

JWPlayer Skins Crashs JW player

I am running Joomla 2.5.4 with sermon speaker 4.4.3. For some reason when I reference any skin even the default one in the JW Player Skin location in the setting it causes JW player to crash. On my desktop it causes flash to crash and on my iPad it just causes nothing to come up as if jw player is not falling back on html5. Maybe I'm just missing something simple. Our sited is hosted on hostgator as well if that is a factor.

What skin are you using? There is not really a default one, the default one would be "no skin" :-)

I've just tried it with this one: www.longtailvideo.com/addons/skins/61/Grunge-Tape and it works for me.

Some points to note:
  • Make sure you use a skin which is compatible with JW5, FLASH and HTML5
  • Copy the zipfile (do not extract it!) to a public available location that is not restricted by .htaccess or similar. Usually /images is safe.
  • Enter the path to the zipfile in the SermonSpeaker settings. Like 'images/grungetape.zip'

I tried using Grunge Tape from: www.longtailvideo.com/addons/skins/61/Grunge-Tape . The would explain why mediapalyer.zip failed when I tried to reference that lol. I also tried using play casso as well.

Thanks for the quick response!

Both should work.

Did you try to access the zipfile directly? Since the skin is loaded by the browser/Flash and not by the server, the file must be accessible by the public.

If you store it in /images/grungetape.zip try to access it with www.yourdomain.com/images/grungetape.zip .
Most likely the server blocks the downloading of the zipfile for some reason. This could be done in the .htaccess file or somewhere else in the server settings.

If the direct access works, I would need an URL of your site to see if I can see anything else going weird.

Yes I have, I am able to download the zip file if I type in the directory. I have tried moving it to the root as well with no success. In safari nothing happenes and in Firefox it causes the flash plugin to crash.
