Support for SermonSpeaker 5.x is in bugfix mode only, the same as it is for Joomla 3.10.
I will not add any new features to this releases.
Please upgrade to SermonSpeaker 6.x and Joomla 4.x, which is better anyway.

Adding YouTube Videos and Audio

Hello,

We are trying to add youtube videos to a website using sermon speaker. We already have audio file links (audio files in Google) and now want to add youtube videos and audio. When I add the youtube share link nothing happens. I tried adding the MediaElement plugin and pointing to that player but still not working. I have tried all other players and different settings but I can not get them to play.

I know I must be missing something small and simple but I can not find it.

Any help that you could send would be greatly appreciated.

Here is the link to a sermon so that you can see the layout and the issue. www.richlandhillsbc.com/stand-alone-sermons

Try to enter the URL of your Youtube video into the video field.
You don't need any share links or anything, just the URL as it shows in your browsers, eg " www.youtube.com/watch?v=QFytEjd3L80 ", the shortened URLs like " youtu.be/QFytEjd3L80 " should work as well I think.

Hello,

I did use those URL's.

These are the URL's that I used:
www.youtu.be/QFytEjd3L80
youtu.be/QFytEjd3L80
youtu.be/QFytEjd3L80
www.youtube.com/watch?v=QFytEjd3L80

The first 3 only play audio. The 4th one opens a player that does not play.

I tried them again just to make sure and no, they are not playing the video.

Try to use "https" and not "http", in case you used the latter. The browser console shows an error related to that when I click the "Watch" button.
The same error shows also for the Google Fonts and other ressources.

The thing is that when your site is using "https", all ressources need to be served over "https" as well or the browser will block it.

Sorry,

I should have included the https when I sent you the URL's that I have tried. It doesn't matter if the https is in the URL or not the video will not play.

The URL that is in the Videofile box now is www.youtube.com/watch?v=QFytEjd3L80 .

The https is being removed from the link in the forum when I submit it. The link that is in the videofile box now has the https.
