Support for SermonSpeaker 5.x is in bugfix mode only, the same as it is for Joomla 3.10.
I will not add any new features to this releases.
Please upgrade to SermonSpeaker 6.x and Joomla 4.x, which is better anyway.

Import sermons into new installation was created by Mike Gay
Hi - been using Sermon speaker for quite a few years with joomla 2.5. Am currently installing Joomla 3 into a subfolder to minimise downtime and have installed the latest version of Sermon speaker. Is there a tool I can use to import all the sermons from the old version into the new version? Any help would be much appreciated.
Regards
Mike

There is no tool needed.
You can install SermonSpeaker 4.5.8 in Joomla 2.5 and Joomla 3.x. Since it's the same version you can just copy the tables over.
After that, you update SermonSpeaker to the latest version and it will do all the database changes.
When you install SermonSpeaker 4.5.8 in Joomla 3 make sure to first uninstall any newer version. Joomla doesn't support downgrading versions and it will create unexpected behavior when you later update it again.

Ah right, I'll give that a go - where do I find the tables to copy over? Thanks for your quick reply Thomas.

All that start with #__sermon are the SermonSpeaker ones.
But then, you could also start with a backup of the whole 2.5 site and do an upgrade to 3.0. That's a one-click update for the core (and SermonSpeaker). Some extensions and most likely the templates will be incompatible. But it's still easier than starting from scratch.

Thanks Thomas, I've done too much work on the new site to go the upgrade route. I'll try copying the tables and see what happens. I've already uninstalled the newer version of Sermon speaker and installed the older version in Joomla 3.
Thanks again

If you copy the tables, you will need to reassign categories to the sermons, series and speakers because they will not match anymore.
Also, the user that created the sermon will most likely be linked wrong.
Other than that, youshould be fine.
