Sermon player not working on iOS Devices

Site: Joomla 3.4.1
Component: Sermon Speaker 5.4.4

When trying to play a sermon on any iOS Device. (Have tested on multiple devices and types) Most recently on an iPhone 5S running iOS 8.4 using Safari. The player on a Sermon Detail page just displays a message that says 'error'.

Android devices play just fine.

The main thing is that on mobile devices, Flash isn't present. Thus it falls back to HTML5, which means the browser will play the file natively and it depends on the browser/OS what it will do with it.

You can try with another layout. The icon layout is hardcoded to use the PixelOut player. The other layouts can use JW Player which has more intelligent fallbacks.

Is this documented anywhere? It's very odd that the icons layout forces that player even when I changed the player and fallback in the options. I would recommend this issue be noted in your documentation so others don't run into the same issue as I did.

That layout is hardcoded because it just doesn't look good with the other players. There is a fallback to HTML5 included, but I don't know why that doesn't work for IOS devices. I don't own one and thus can't check.

It's not documented but a search on the forum brings up the topic probably more than once
