Support for SermonSpeaker 4.x is canceled as it is for Joomla 2.5. I will gladly assist you with minor issues but I will not fix any bugs anymore in this releases.
The fix is to upgrade to SermonSpeaker 5.x and Joomla 3.x, which is better anyway.
I am in the process of transferring a church's website to Joomla. They are currently hosting their sermons files (about 25GB) on their own server. Currently they are pulling the files from that server on their website.
I'm wondering if I can use that server as the sermon path so I don't have to move all the files to a new host. Is this possible?
Yes, this is supported. However some functions where SermonSpeaker tries to read the file (like id3 lookup and the download function) will not work.
You have two options:
Just enter the URL to the file into the sermon form, starting with "http://".
Use a script on your "file server" which produces an XML list of the files. An example can be found in the download section:
www.sermonspeaker.net/download/extern-script.html
. Enter the URL to this script in the SermonSpeaker options as "Extern Server". This will then populate the dropdown list based on the content of this XML output.
