Support for SermonSpeaker 4.x is canceled as it is for Joomla 2.5. I will gladly assist you with minor issues but I will not fix any bugs anymore in this releases.
The fix is to upgrade to SermonSpeaker 5.x and Joomla 3.x, which is better anyway.

So, I had to rebuild my site after a partial/failed restoration.

After reinstalling sermon speaker twice, this error persists:

Table 'jml_databasenamehere.jml_sermon_tags' doesn't exist SQL=SELECT tags.id As value,CASE WHEN CHAR_LENGTH(c_tags.title) THEN CONCAT(tags.title, " (", c_tags.title, ")") ELSE tags.title END AS text FROM jml_sermon_tags AS tags LEFT JOIN jml_categories AS c_tags ON c_tags.id = tags.catid WHERE tags.state = 0 ORDER BY tags.title

I'm not skilled in SQL so while this seems somewhat straightforward, I have no idea where to begin.

Thanks for helping!

This sounds like you made a fresh install of SermonSpeaker, then copied the database of an older release, dropping the existing SermonSpeaker tables?
If that's the case, try the same but with the exact same version you used in your old installation.

What it says is that the table for the tags doesn't exist. This table was introduced with SermonSpeaker 4.4.6.

If you have to manually apply all SQL commands to get your database up to date:
The commands for a fresh installation are in

/administrator/components/com_sermonspeaker/sql/install.mysql.utf8.sql

The commands to update existing tables to the current version are in

/administrator/components/com_sermonspeaker/sql/updates/mysql/

There is a file for each release which contains the changes to the previous release. In a regular update, Joomla will automatically apply these changes in order.
