Support for SermonSpeaker 4.x is canceled as it is for Joomla 2.5. I will gladly assist you with minor issues but I will not fix any bugs anymore in this releases.
The fix is to upgrade to SermonSpeaker 5.x and Joomla 3.x, which is better anyway.

Ah, true.

joomla16.hopto.org/sermons.html is my own testing site. The first 3 "sermons" have mp4 videos attached which probably should play. The fourth has a wmv file which probably doesn't work. The others either have only and audio or video file.

Looks quite funny. I could reproduce it on my system, using Safari when deinstalling Flash. And I found the source of the problem and an easy fix :-)

The problem is that the HTML5 mode from JWPlayer has issues if you give the width in percent. It works when you enter it as an absolute value.
Fortunately for us they already fixed it in the newest version of their player.

I've attached the current release:

File Attachment:

File Name: mediaplayer.zip
File Size:601 KB

You could also download it from their page: www.longtailvideo.com/players/jw-flv-player/

To upgrade your player you just copy the following three files to /media/com_sermonspeaker/player/jwplayer/ overwriting the existing ones:
  • jwplayer.js
  • player.swf
  • swfobject.js

That should do the trick

Regarding the percentage issue is that something within the files that are needed to make JW player work or is it how it is coded on the web page you are using the player on. We are using 5.7 for another domain we use that is for live streaming so I wanted to be sure that as long as we use absolute values like 720x480 we wouldn't have to upgrade the player to 5.8. I know that in order to fix the issue easily that I had to upgrade for sermon speaker but if we are coding the player onto a web page from scratch we have more options.
