Support for SermonSpeaker 4.x is canceled as it is for Joomla 2.5. I will gladly assist you with minor issues but I will not fix any bugs anymore in this releases.
The fix is to upgrade to SermonSpeaker 5.x and Joomla 3.x, which is better anyway.

iTunes Release Date

I notice in the <pubDate> tag of the Sermons Cast (Sermons Speaker 4.1) the date is showing differently than in the "Release Date" column in the iTunes podcast. From my reading I'm think it could be because only the date is placed in the <pubDate> tag. On the administration page, in the backend, where we upload the sermon, there is only the option for a date. Is it possible to place a time or can you tell me if that's even the problem? I've posted the URL to our raw feed and our podcast. Notice, for example, the message titled, Galations 6:1-9 has a release date of 02/07/12 and in our raw feed it shows 02/08/2012.

Podcast URL: itunes.apple.com/us/podcast/calvary-chap...h-desert/id292996255

It's basically a timezone problem. Because the <pubDate> is set to 02/08/2012 00:00:00, applying a negative timezone to it will bring it to 02/07/2012 23:00:00. iTunes seem to do that for some reason. Maybe east/west coast calculations or so.
The release date from iTunes is taken from the <pubDate> tag, which is the sermon date. There is no other date.

You could try if changing the timezone settings in Joomla will change anything, but I doubt it. What would help is if you set not only a date but also a time for the sermon, bringing it to 02/08/2012 10:00:00 or so. Then an hour difference wouldn't change the date.

SermonSpeaker threats the datetime field from the sermon as UTC. That's probably because in earlier releases it was only a date field and it didn't make sense to have timezone in it.
I can see what happens if I take the timezone from Joomla and apply this to the date.

Thomas, can you let me know what release this is going to be in so I can update our website?

I turns out it's a bit more complicated.
I could easily use the timezone settings from either Joomla or the logged in user (or even let you choose one) and apply those to the date/time. The problem is that Joomla will calculate the timezone into the date, adding or substracting the timeshift from the saved date/time. I don't think that is the behaviour we need as it will probably raise more issues than we have now.
I will have to look deeper into how Joomla handles this stuff. Maybe I have to "manually" create the date and timezone instead of using the Joomla functions for this.

I'll try to include a solution into the next release, not sure how yet :-)
